Three Avataars
There are some people you meet because of your destiny, there are some people you meet because of some one else’s destiny. That’s how i met Christina. I was commissioned to make three paintings for three women in a short amount of time. Two days to make three paintings, what? Yes, that was all the time we had!
Women, women, so many avataars we come in. Here are three i thought worthy to depict. The women come in 3 powerful avataars, the yoga instructor so strong who wakes up to a morning of sunshine, the kathak dancer so graceful in her art she makes heads turn, and the bride so beautiful who makes everything around her look like a dream.

As you can tell I have been inspired by the attire of a Mughal-e-Azam and Pakeezah. And since it had been ages since I walked into a paper shop and asked for recycled paper, i was very unsure of the results. But it did turn out well. The details have been inspired by the painters of Madhubani art, from Bihar, who traditionally use natural dyes to color their canvases.
Here are some details from the three artworks
Thank you Christina for awakening the sleeping creative me!

All done and ready to drape
Hours, days, and weeks later I’m finally done! Here’s what the first sari from Kye looks like. After this I have also decided to take orders for stoles, and may even be interested in painting a garment or two.

Moving ahead with an ethnic route
I never ever considered painting sari’s until a mother-daughter duo expressed an interest in wearing my art. One would think my work would fit better on contemporary garments, but i am glad to have found joy in taking the ethnic route. Here are initial images from the ‘mom’s’ sari.

I should really thank my brother in law and husband for making me do this. I painted them a pair of shoes last year and after many a lecture, i said ‘fine! i will paint these for more people’. So I finally bought three pairs of shoes, pondered over what i should do, got my colors out and had a blast! many of our readers have been mailing in for twitter cushions and fire fox pillows but i think the wow factor of what we do is the original art. I hope you all love them and buy them too. Here’s your sneak(er) preview readers!
