Revisited an old sketch, this one is on canvas though. My Mayuri in this one has lost her childish look, I just found that this made her look more life like, she emotes, it’s almost like she can speak to me now. ‘Ponnuku mallipoo asai’ (a little girl’s desire for jasmine flowers) is the first in a series of South Indian influenced paintings from the memories of little girls who grew up amidst jasmine flowers, the sea, temples, and coffee wearing pattu pavadais and temple jewelry to weddings!
