Art turns craft

‘Aparna, I have registered Sonu for the arts and crafts class, you know something for him to do during the holidays.’ I heard someone say during my evening stroll after a day of much painting.

Something crossed my mind and i just knew i had to share it. As kids arts and crafts are one and the same to us. But as we grow up the two start pulling away. We often think, an artist is an artist and a craftsman makes crafts. (I am not referring to people educated in art and design schools here, i am just talking about the general perception).

It wasn’t until recently that I started to merge the two together. Everyone has a different way of doing it and this is mine. ‘Art on usable surfaces’ i like to call it. Art that you can see, touch, feel and clean.
